The NHLBI is interested in Small Business Innovation Research/Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) activities that advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders. NHLBI offers SEED funding opportunities without requirements to give up equity or ownership for early-stage research and development.
A Phase I award helps you focus on the feasibility, technical merit, and commercial potential of your research project.
A Phase II award lets you continue the research and development efforts initiated in Phase I. Additional options include fast-track & direct to phase II path.
NHLBI offers Phase IIB awards for selected SBIR/STTR Phase II projects. This program is expected to promote partnerships between Federally-funded Phase II awardees and third-party investors and/or strategic partners to facilitate and accelerate the capital-intensive steps required to commercialize new products through matching funds.
